Commemoration of Sayadaw U. Thilawunta, Wangapeka, NZ
March 30, 2011 All day
As many have heard, the Venerable Sayadaw U. Thilawunta passed away on March 17th. In commemoration of the passing of Sayadaw, this full moon evening, Saturday March 19th, Lama Mark Webber will lead a ceremony in the Whare at the Wangapeka Retreat Centre. This puja is necessarily limited to those in retreat, due to the current silent Vipassana retreat on Death and Impermanence.
However, on March 30th, at 3:30 pm Lama Mark will lead a public ceremony in remembrance of this precious Dharma Teacher at the Pagoda at Wangapeka. The Pagoda is currently being sanded of peeling paint and a fresh white coat and gold trim will be ready for the March 30th commemoration. Flowers, food, candles, incense and other offerings are welcome, in memory of a tireless Noble Teacher and Meditation Master who mentored the unfolding of many beings, including the late Ven. Namgyal Rinpoche and many members of our Dharma community.
