Dharma and Diving in Cayos Cochins, Honduras

The weather and water have been especially delicious this year in Cayos Cochinos. Laurel has been out snorkeling and diving every day for 2 weeks seeing many new and interesting things. The list is long but a few highlights are: a large moray eel, 3 sea turtles, nurse shark, a magnificent spotted eagle ray, stingrays, monster lobsters, queen and french angle fish and a circus of colorful reef fish. Clarity, spaciousness, awareness, warm water and fish.
The retreat in Cayos is going to happen and will be January 21st to February 4th. The weather last year, was beautiful at that time. Accommodations will be at the small dive resort Plantation Beach Resort (www.plantationbeachresort.com) within easy walking, swimming and kayaking distance of Laurel’s house. Lama Mark will be giving daily dharma classes (topic to be announced) at Laurel’s house and there will be a boat to transport everyone back and forth for classes. The entire resort accomadates up to 12 retreaters. There will be two different prices, a non-diver (snorkeler) price and a scuba diver price. This includes double occupancy for 14 nights, 3 meals a day, transfers between La Ceiba and the island, snorkeling and kayaks. The non-diver package will be $1150. The scuba diver rate with one tank dive a day will be $1450 (additional dives available). Dana for Lama Mark is separate from this price. In addition to resort fees and Dana there will be a $200 course fee to cover expenses for the Teacher.
We wanted to give you the heads-up even though we don’t have all the details yet so you can plan for this exciting Dharma retreat. Several people from Canada and Guatemala have already committed to attend and space is limited.
One overnight in La Ceiba will be necessary on your way to the retreat. We will arrange a double room at the Paris Hotel on the central Park of La Ceiba. La Ceiba has a good airport with connections through San Pedro Sula, Honduras. There is a luxury bus from Guatemala City which is really very comfortable, Laurel has taken it many times.
