The Bliss of Manifestation and Open Mind, Galiano Island, BC
July 10, 2009 – August 2, 2009 UTC-8
~ a retreat on the seamless integration of ancient meditations, creativity and natural inquiry ~
Natural surroundings offer a very direct path to experiencing the natural openness of mind and the bliss of experience. This retreat will focus on observations and participation with nature; inner and outer. Come and explore with Lama Mark as he weaves together ancient meditations with direct contemplations of perception, sensing, mind, creativity and natural forms to unfold mindfulness, calm, clarity and the natural state of complete relaxation. Lama Mark will lead practitioners to wider and deeper views of interconnectivity, uniqueness, wonder and unity that are natural expressions of being. At the beginning of the third week of the retreat, he will bestow the empowerment of Red Chenresig (Gyalwa Gyatso).
“Ever wonder why we really meditate? Essentially, penetrating beyond the calm mind lies the wondrous natural universe, as it is. This transcendent state is non-other than what is naturally present – suchness – and that is extraordinary! As the universe is fundamentally open, immediate, spontaneous, infinitely creative and alive; so too are you! How could it be otherwise? This natural state needs no gold leaf or fancy lights to make it any better than it is. Yet, to experience this directness and openness, which is always present in each one of us, requires a combination of deep relaxation, love and crisp awareness that is not normally apparent due to a very busy, story making consciousness. When the story making ceases, the mind relaxes and through investigation it discovers an amazing universe, inner and outer. And one’s being undergoes profound physiological and psychological changes. Eventually the interest to question, to discover and to be generous and compassionate is effortless and utterly spontaneous. Only one’s fear and anxiety of being in total love and wonder stands in the way. This natural mind of openness, is non-other than meditation!” Lama Mark
