View, Meditation and Action, and how to follow a Spiritual Guide, Nelson, NZ
New Zealand
March 8 @ 7:00 pm – March 10 @ 9:00 pm UTC-8
Friday, March 8th, 7pm:
Understanding the View: the profound intent and realization of all schools of Buddhism
Without deeply hearing the very essence of Dharma, it is easy to wander off from the purpose of all study, reflection and meditation. Lama Webber explains the View from several classic Buddhist perspectives born from the realization of great masters. In this way our motivation for meditation and gaining genuine experience becomes ever richer, dynamic and rewarding for all beings.
Saturday, March 9th, 10 am & 4 pm:
Meditation and conduct and why we need to mentor with a Spiritual Guide (part I)
How we understand and incorporate the View into our mind stream shapes all our study and meditations. It also colours our daily conduct and activities. Lama Mark Webber continues to unfold a vast View to practical guidance into the heart of meditation, bringing about the unity of compassion and wisdom that blossoms into the conduct of bodhisattva activity. To ripen view, meditation and conduct, genuine guidance and mentorship at all stages is essential.
Sunday, March 10th, 7:00 pm:
How to follow a Spiritual guide (part II)
The role and relationship of the noble spiritual friend or guide is of paramount importance in unfolding the path of awakening. Both the term and roles can cause much confusion and consternation in Dharma practitioners, as does understanding meditation and enlightenment! The Buddha reportedly declared that the whole of the spiritual life is the noble spiritual friend. Lama Webber will give traditional meanings, history, fresh translations from classic texts, especially Patrul Rinpoche’s, Words of My Perfect Teacher and his own perspectives. He will also touch upon recent cultural shifts to this essential ingredient of the path of liberation.
